Unfortunately, short time after completion of my wind sextet Färbungen, Störungen ("colourings, disturbances"), dissolved the ensemble for which I had composed it in 1996. It was left all the years since then, I almost forgot it, and it is for me in various ways something special that it is finally played for the first time now after over 10 years.
As the title already indicates, my piece consists of two very miscellaneous movements. The first consists essentially of a sound continuum developing into different kind of noise – of changing colourings of the tone B. The second is characterized by sharp contrasts of two different structures, that is characters – the oppositeness of the singing nature horn and excited attacks which become independent to the end. "Färbungen" and "Störungen" are connected by its conclusion parts, these both have a tendency towards solidification.
